Pixel smartphone sales explode by 220% in the UK

Google’s Pixel smartphones have always been a popular choice amongst users who wanted an Android phone that would receive timely updates and would offer a pretty stock/vanilla Android experience.

But at the same time, the Pixel phones have always felt a bit too “safe”, especially when you look at other phones that have tried pushing the envelope when it came to design and also features, like utilizing cooling fans, RGB lights, foldable displays, and so on, but it appears that Google has managed to win over the hearts of customers with the Pixel 6.

This is according to a tweet by Francisco Jeronimo, associate vice president at analysis firm IDC, where he claims that based on the latest data, Google’s Pixel 6 has managed to break into the region’s top sales charts by shipping approximately 164,000 units throughout the first quarter of 2022.

This is versus Q1 2021 where Google shipped about 50,000 units, resulting in a 220% explosion in sales and popularity. Keep in mind that while these figures are impressive, Google still trails very far behind other more established manufacturers like Samsung and Apple, both of whom are clearly dominating the UK market, but if this is any indication, it seems that Google could be on the right path here.

The company did previously announce the Pixel 6a at I/O 2022 which features similar hardware to the Pixel 6 but at a cheaper price, so we imagine that could appeal to customers on a tighter budget.
