Google Keep could soon gain proper text formatting tools

0

There are a ton of note-taking apps out there and many people use what they use for a variety of reasons. If you’re the type that loves their apps to be simple and straightforward, then Google Keep is a great note-taking app especially for Android, but in some instances, it might be too simple.

This is in comparison to competing native note-taking apps like Apple’s Notes which is simple enough but yet has tools that let users get a bit more creative with it. The good news is that if you were hoping for slightly more robust tools for Google Keep, that could soon change in a future update.

Google Keep Tips and Tricks - 1

This is based on an APK teardown by 9to5Google in which they discovered code strings that reference text formatting. We know that text formatting isn’t the most exciting feature in the world, but considering how long Google Keep has been around and how long basic formatting like bold, italics, and underlined have been “missing” from the app, it’s kind of a big deal.

Unfortunately, there is no telling when Google is expected to introduce these new features to the app. As 9to5Google notes, sideloading the latest version of Google Keep doesn’t seem to enable these features, so there’s a chance it is a server-side update that users will just have to wait for Google to enable for them.
