Huawei Mate XS 2 officially launched in China

0

A few days ago, Huawei teased that they would be launching a new foldable in the form of the Huawei Mate XS 2, and sure enough the company has as they have officially taken the wraps off their latest foldable smartphone.

Diving into the specs of the phone, the Huawei Mate XS 2 will feature a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate on the outside with a resolution of 1176×2480. On the inside when the phone is unfolded, the display will measure 7.8-inches. It will also be an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and has a resolution of 2200×2480.

As for the chipset of choice, this is something we think is a bit weird and that is Huawei has opted to use the 2021 Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. We’re not sure if it’s a cost issue or legal issue (due to Huawei being blacklisted by the US), but it is a bit disappointing.

The phone will be offered in 8GB or 12GB variants and will also come in 256GB or 512GB storage configurations. It also packs a 4,880mAh battery with support for 66W fast wired charging. The phone also sports a triple camera setup on the back with a 50MP f/1.8 main, a 13MP ultrawide f/2.2, and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto. This will be complemented by a 32MP f/2.4 front-facing shooter.

All in all, despite the use of the Snapdragon 888 chipset, it seems like a pretty solid smartphone. It will not come cheap though as it is priced at around $1,500 and appears to be only available in China right now and it is unclear if there are plans to eventually launch it in other countries.
