Right now, Samsung’s foldable phones consist of two devices – the Galaxy Z Fold which is a phone-tablet hybrid, and the Galaxy Z Flip, which is a modern take on the flip phone from back in the feature phone days.
That might change in the future because according to leakster Dohyun Kim, he has tipped the folks over at LetsGoDigital that Samsung could actually be developing a new foldable phone concept that marries the design and functionality of the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip into the ultimate foldable device.
Working together with Technizo Concept, they have tried to imagine a phone that can fold both horizontally and vertically. This means that if users wanted a larger tablet-like display, they would unfold it like the Galaxy Z Fold, but then if they wanted the flip concept, they would just fold it the other way.
The report goes on to claim that Samsung is also developing a special interface that would work perfectly for the device, where it could switch between the different orientations accordingly. We’re not sure what the point of this device is, other than to show off Samsung’s display technology, but it is a pretty cool idea.
There was no mention of when Samsung is expected to launch such a device, so until we get the official word, take it with a grain of salt.
