The concept of foldables has always been rather appealing, but suffice to say when Samsung first launched their first-ever foldable, its reception was less than stellar. From reports about durability issues with the hinge and the display, many seemed to feel that the price it commanded was not worth it.

Instead of admitting defeat, Samsung doubled down and their investment in their foldable phones has paid off tremendously. As part  of a wrap up of 2021, the company has published a blog in which they talk about their foldable phone efforts and look back at how far they’ve come in the past three years.

Some of the noteworthy achievements we’re reading include how the company’s foldable phones, like the Galaxy Z Flip 3, have done a much better job at convincing users of other brands to buy their products. According to Samsung, they saw an increase of 140% of customers from other brands who bought the Galaxy Z Flip 3, more so than the company’s flagship Galaxy S21.

The company also notes how they’ve managed to ship four times as many foldable devices in 2021 compared to 2020, which is a massive achievement when you consider how mature the smartphone market is today. They also revealed that during the first four weeks of going on sale, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 sold more units than all of Samsung’s foldables sold back in 2020.

We have to say that we are pretty excited to see what else Samsung could come up with on the foldables front in 2022, so be sure to check back with us for updates in the coming months.
