With all the success that Samsung has been seeing with its foldable phones, it’s not surprising that the company’s success is now paving the way for more manufacturers to hop on board the foldable bandwagon. In fact, it looks like former Huawei subsidiary Honor has teased its upcoming foldable, the Honor Magic V.
Not much is known about the phone for now, but the company did send us a teaser image for the upcoming phone which you can see for yourself below. There is admittedly not much to see except for two displays folding in the middle forming a V-like shape, although at this point in time we’re not sure if the company is going for a phone more akin to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 or a clamshell design like the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
According to Honor, the phone is expected to be announced in the coming days where more details like its specs and launch date will be shared. It will be interesting to see Honor enter the foldable space, especially since at the moment it is more or less being dominated by Samsung. If the company can somehow create a foldable phone priced affordably like the rest of its series, it would certainly help to attract more customers.
Prior to this while Honor was still under Huawei, Huawei themselves attempted a foldable phone, but unfortunately it never quite took unlike Samsung’s efforts. Will Honor succeed where Huawei failed? We’ll have to wait and see.
