Realme will launch its 4K Smart Google TV Stick on October 13

Until now, the only real option to get a portable Google TV experience has been to snag the Chromecast with Google TV. This is a fine option, and is probably the best choice for many, unless you want something a bit more robust. Well, if you fall in that latter category, you’re in luck thanks to Realme.

Realme has just announced that the Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick is coming on October 13th. However, it would appear as though this will only be arriving in India. The landing page for this new streaming stick doesn’t explicitly state as much, but when you try to register to be notified when it’s available, the only country code listed is +91 for India.

According to the details provided so far, the Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick will offer 4K60, HDMI 2.1 connectivity, and HDR10+ support. There’s no indication as to whether Realme will include a remote with the streaming stick, but does highlight the following apps as being available when it launches:

  • Netflix
  • YouTube
  • Amazon Prime Video
  • YouTube Music
  • Google Play
  • Google Play Games
  • Google Play Movies & TV

The last one is a bit odd, considering that the Movies & TV app has been replaced, but perhaps this was just an oversight by the Realme team.

Along with being “officially certified by Google”, the TV Stick will include build-in Google Assistant, but again, we aren’t sure if this means that there are microphones built into the dongle or if this will be powered by a remote. Unfortunately, there’s no information available in terms of pricing, but with less than a week to go, we don’t have much longer to wait. If Realme does release this in India only, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this is only temporary, as it would be great to have more streaming devices powered by Google TV available to everyone.
