Honor made a big splash back into the smartphone market earlier this year, partly thanks to the successful launch of the Magic 3 series. But seeing how pretty much every other smartphone maker is working on a foldable device, Honor also confirmed that one was in development. Unfortunately, since confirming a foldable phone was coming, there was no indication as to when the device would actually arrive.

A new rumor from Weibo (via GSMArena) claims that Honor’s foldable phone will be called the Honor Magic X and will make its debut before the “end of Q4” 2021. The rumor also claims that Honor could be following a similar design strategy to the Huawei Mate X2, which was released before the two company’s ended up splitting.
Unfortunately, this rumor didn’t share too much else in regards to what the Honor Magic X will look like or be capable of. If it does, in fact, follow the design styles of the Mate X2, then we’re in for quite a treat at the Mate X2 is still a fantastic-looking device hampered by the inability to use Google Play Services.
Considering that Samsung is seeing great success with sales of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3, Honor is looking to make a play in the foldable market. The end of the year could be quite interesting for foldable phones as Google’s Pixel Fold is rumored to also launch before the end of Q4 2021, and we could see something crop up from Oppo and/or Xiaomi as well.
