UGREEN 100W GaN Fast Charger: The Last Charger You’ll Need

0

In a world where fast charging is becoming a regular addition, it’s important to make sure you have the proper charger to keep up with the times. But the reality is that we own more than just one device, and need something that can provide enough power for our phones, tablets, headphones, smartwatches, and even laptops. It’s even more important to make sure you have the right charger nowadays, as smartphone makers continue to release phones and are not including chargers in the box.

That’s where UGREEN’s all-new 100W GaN Fast Charger comes in. This portable wall charger is equipped with three USB-C ports and even a USB-A port. Thanks to the power of GaN technology, this wall charger is one of the smallest chargers we’ve seen and is even smaller than the 96W USB-C adapter that Apple provides with its 16-inch MacBook Pro. Adding to the portability aspect, this Fast Charger from UGREEN even has folding prongs for easier storage and so you won’t have to worry about the prongs poking a hole in your bag. And if you want to learn more about exactly what GaN technology is, check out the explainer.

With 100W of total power, the UGREEN GaN Fast Charger can handle just about everything that you might own. The only exceptions come with those newer smartphones like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 and the Vivo IQOO 7 with their 120W fast-charging speeds. But even without reaching peak speeds, you’ll still be able to get those phones charged up rather quickly thanks to the UGREEN 100W GaN Fast Charger.

To put this charger through its paces, we plugged in the following devices:

  • OnePlus 9 Pro (65W Max)
  • 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro (87W Max)
  • Nintendo Switch (18W Max)
  • Poco M3 Pro (18W Max)

All of the devices were plugged in with batteries that were completely drained, providing us an even starting point across the board. Here’s how the results turned out after charging each for an hour:

  • OnePlus 9 Pro – 67%
  • 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro – 49%
  • Nintendo Switch (18W Max) – 21%
  • Poco M3 Pro (18W Max) – 22%

With four devices connected, two of which take advantage of fast charging speeds, it’s pretty impressive to see that the UGREEN GaN Fast Charger was able to provide this much juice. Add in the portability aspect of being able to fold up the prongs, and still come in smaller than Apple’s 87W MacBook Pro charger with a single USB-C port, and UGREEN’s charger has helped me to slim down what I throw in my backpack.

Before, I needed to make sure that I had enough chargers to accommodate any of the devices that I was going to be bringing with me at any given time. But now, I have been able to throw those other chargers in storage, clearing up some space in my bag, while still being able to have a charger that can handle it all.

Given that more and more smartphone makers are ditching the included charging brick, it only makes sense for you to want to find something that will properly work with your phone. And unless you find yourself with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra or other super-fast charging devices, the UGREEN GaN Fast Charger is absolutely perfect. It’s capable of fast-charging even your laptop while providing a fast charge to your smartphone at the same time.

If there’s one gripe that we can manage to find with this charger, it’s an extremely minor one. The addition of an LED indicator would have been a nice touch, just to let us know that everything is full-steamed ahead after plugging everything in. It’s not like this is a deal-breaker by any means, but it would be nice to have some indication that everything is working.

If you’re interested in the UGREEN GaN Fast Charger, it’s available on Amazon and is priced at $69.99. And for a limited time, you can save an extra $10 by clipping the on-page coupon, bringing it down to just $59.99.
