Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 coming soon with ANC and a modest price tag

Coming as no surprise, the Galaxy Buds 2 are now official, and Samsung states these will be joining the Galaxy Buds Live and Buds Pro. This likely means that the Galaxy Buds+ that have been hanging around for a couple of years will be removed from Samsung’s lineup. But what do these $150 headphones have to offer?

Samsung Galaxy Z Buds 2: Features

While the bean-shape of the Buds Live seemed like a fun adventure, Samsung is adopting the design of the Buds Pro for these new headphones. This offers a much better fit, along with a better seal thanks to the included silicone ear tips. And that seal is going to be rather important as the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 offer Active Noise Cancellation.

In addition to ANC, the Buds 2 also include Ambient Sound (read: Transparency Mode), with three different adjustable levels to choose from. There are a total of three microphones built into each earbud, along with dynamic two-way speakers to help with sound quality and phone calls.

Samsung adds that the Buds 2 will feature a new “machine learning-based solution” that is designed to filter out those annoying background noises. To help ensure that you have the best audio experience, the Galaxy Wearable app features a new ‘Earbud fit test’. This is similar to what you’ll find with the AirPods Pro and other headphones to make sure that you’re using the right-sized eartips.

Other features of the Galaxy Bud 2 include IPX7 water and sweat resistance, along with up to 28 hours of battery life. The earbuds account for five hours with ANC enabled, or eight hours with ANC turned off. And the charging case will bring an additional 13 hours with ANC or 20 hours without. You’ll also be able to enjoy around an hour of battery with just a five minute charge.

As for colors, Samsung’s shooting for the moon, just like it is with the Z Flip 3. There are a total of four colors to choose from including graphite, white, olive, and lavender. The company also confirmed that cases will be made available, but we aren’t sure what those will look like or where they’ll be released.

Samsung Galaxy Z Buds 2: Price and availability

With the Galaxy Buds Pro sporting a retail price of $199, it makes sense for Samsung to try and offer something a bit lower. The Galaxy Buds 2 will be priced at just $149, which puts it in firm competition with the OnePlus Buds Pro that are slated to arrive later this month.

But unlike the other devices announced today, the Buds 2 won’t be available for pre-order. However, you can pick up a new set of headphones for yourself starting on August 26th.
