Hold up, HTC could have a new Android tablet in the works

0

HTC used to be one of the juggernauts back in the early days of Android, but over the years, the company has been rather quiet on the mobile front. We have seen HTC launch a new phone every now and then, but they haven’t been particularly active, at least compared to other handset manufacturers.

That being said, it seems that HTC could be getting ready to make another push into the market. This is according to a tweet by Abhishek Yadav who discovered that HTC could be working on a new Android tablet with the model number A100. According to the tweet, the specs of the alleged tablet are:

  • 10.1″ FHD+
  • 8GB+128GB
  • 7000mAh battery
  • 13MP+2MP Dual rear camera
  • 5MP front facing camera
  • Spreadtrum T618

The tweet also alleges that this tablet will be priced around $200 and they also attached a couple of images of the device (as you can see in the tweet above). It’s interesting that HTC could be planning a new tablet. The last we saw a tablet from HTC it was the Nexus 9, which was also Google’s early attempts at launching tablets under the Nexus branding.

These days Android tablets aren’t that common as the market is mostly dominated by Apple’s iPad, but assuming the $200 price tag is real, it could be appealing to Android users who’d rather not use iOS and don’t want to pay a ton of money for an iPad. There is currently no word on when this alleged HTC tablet will launch or which markets it will be available in, but hopefully more details will be revealed soon.
