Xiaomi’s next Mi Band could have a flexible display that wraps around your wrist

0

We’ve seen how flexible displays have been used in smartphones in the past and present and future, but oddly enough, this isn’t something we’ve seen in too many wearables, save for devices like the Nubia Alpha and the Nubia Watch.

Now it seems that Xiaomi could be developing something as well, according to leaked presentation slides shared on Weibo. The leaked slides (based on the translation) seem to suggest that Xiaomi is working on a new Mi Band wearable called the Mi Band X, and that one of the features is a flexible display that can wrap around your wrist.

Apparently this display will actually go almost 360-degrees around your wrist and there will be a magnet that will help snap it together. Other than that, not much else is known about it, although we have a strong suspicion that it will not come cheap. Xiaomi’s Mi Bands have actually been a pretty popular choice for those who want a wearable but don’t want to spend too much money.

With the Mi Bands priced at under $100, they are a great bargain but with the use of a flexible display, we expect that it will probably be priced similar to the Nubia wearables we mentioned earlier.

The slides do not mention when the Mi Band X will be launched, but it sounds like an interesting device and we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information.
