Google working on a “Switch to Android” app for iOS devices

0

If you want to make the move from Android to iPhone, Apple actually has developed an app that will help make the transfer process a lot smoother and easier, perfect for novices. If you want to go from iPhone to Android, that’s slightly trickier since there isn’t an official tool, at least not yet.

In an APK teardown by 9to5Google, they have discovered that Google could be working on a new “Switch to Android” app. As the name implies, this would be an app developed for Apple’s iOS platform that would help make the switch over to Android painless. According to the references found in the APK, it seems that this would transfer data like SMS messages, contacts, and apps.

We’re not sure how the app transfer will work, but presumably it would try to search the Play Store for the same apps and then maybe download it for you, although this probably won’t work for paid apps.

At the moment, the most “official” way to transfer from iPhone to Android would be to copy the contents onto a computer, or transfer it to a platform like Google Drive and then download it to your new phone, but this app could potentially make the entire process a lot easier.

We’re not sure when this app is expected to make its debut, but if you do plan to eventually make the switch over to Android from an iPhone, then this could be something to keep an eye out for.
