OnePlus will bring Android 11 to the OnePlus 6 and 6T

0

The OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T were released in 2018. This means that both phones are about 3 years old now, which by the industry standards is practically ancient. If you happen to be holding onto either handset, then you might be interested to learn that OnePlus will be bringing Android 11 to both phones.

This is according to an announcement on the OnePlus forums where the company has confirmed the good news. Typically speaking, Android handset manufacturers don’t really update devices that are older than two years. It’s not unheard of for it to happen, but usually two years is about when major Android support comes to an end.

Before you get too excited though, OnePlus states that the update to Android 11 is only expected to be released at the end of August, and that is the open beta version. This means that the public release could be even later. By then, Android 12 should have already been released along with newer OnePlus phones.

If you don’t plan on upgrading to a newer phone anytime soon, we suppose waiting it out isn’t an issue, but for those who are on the fence about upgrading, it might actually be a better idea to just upgrade to a newer handset that might come with Android 12 preloaded on it. For everyone else, better late than never, we suppose!
