Normal restart

If your phone is still functioning and you can still tap on it and it is responsive, you can restart it the normal way by:

  1. Press and hold the power button on the side
  2. Wait for the power options menu to popup
  3. Tap Restart and wait for your phone to boot back on

Force restart

If your phone has become unresponsive and tapping on the screen does nothing and it seems frozen, that’s when you need to force it to restart. To force a restart on the Pixel 4a 5G:

  1. Press and hold the power button
  2. Do not let go and keep holding the button until the screen turns black and the Google logo appears
  3. Let the button go and wait for the phone to boot back up
