To date, Samsung has attempted to create two types of phones with foldable displays. We’ve got the Galaxy Z Fold which is a smartphone that unfurls into a tablet, then we have the Galaxy Z Flip which when closed sports a clamshell design that unfolds into a regular-sized smartphone.
Word on the street has it that come 2021, Samsung is expected to refresh the Galaxy Z Flip and according to reliable leakster Ice Universe, he shared a post on Weibo in which he claims that the next-gen Galaxy Z Flip will come with a 120Hz display. This would put it on par with devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Samsung’s other flagship phones.
Oddly enough, Ice Universe is referring to the handset as the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Samsung has released two models of the Galaxy Z Flip, the original model and one that comes with 5G, so it is possible that he might consider the 5G version to be the Galaxy Z Flip 2. He also claims that the phone will be cheaper than its predecessors, and will come with a narrower frame that could potentially help eliminate the bezels to give the phone a more full screen look.
In addition to the Galaxy Z Flip 2 (or 3), a more recent rumor is claiming that Samsung will apparently flood the market with foldable devices in 2021, where they might be launching as many as five foldable phones in total. This would include the next-gen Galaxy Z Flip, the Galaxy Z Fold 3, and three other unknown models.
