For a phone as small as the Galaxy Note series, Samsung decided to introduce a stylus, which we admit can be useful, although we would much prefer if there was more screen real estate to play with. The good news is that Samsung could be granting our wish with their next-gen Galaxy Z Fold, which presumably will be the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
This is according to a report from Korean publication The Elec who cites a report from UBI Research where the authors of the research believe that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could indeed come with S Pen support. Given that the phone can double up as a tablet, it actually makes perfect sense as in tablet mode, users can use the S Pen to jot down notes and make drawings while taking advantage of the larger display.
To that end, the report goes on to claim that Samsung is considering adopting AES digitizer technology so that the S Pen can be used with the device, and also working on a thicker screen material so that users can use the S Pen without damaging the display. Given that the display is the most fragile portion of the phone, this would be crucial if Samsung is hoping to avoid instances of screens getting damaged while using the S Pen.
At the moment, there is no word on when the next-gen Galaxy Z Fold will be launched, but presumably, it should be in 2021.
