Come 2021, it is largely expected that OnePlus will be back with a new flagship phone in the form of the OnePlus 9. If you assumed that it would probably launch the same time as the OnePlus 8 did this year, you would be wrong. This is based on an insider source of Android Central who tipped them to a possible earlier than expected launch.
The publication’s source claims that the OnePlus 9 could launch earlier than what we are expecting, and that it could arrive as early as an entire month and that the phone could be announced in mid-March. As to why the company could be looking to move up its launch date, it has been speculated that the company wants to create a bigger gap between flagship launches, which in 2021 will most likely be the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9T.
At the moment it’s too early to speculate what kind of hardware the OnePlus 9 could be packing under its hood, but it’s probably safe to venture a guess that the phone will most likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 875 chipset. With the OnePlus 8T also sporting specs like a 120Hz display and a new 65W Warp Charge system, we can probably assume that those will trickle down to the OnePlus 9 as well at the very least.
Either way, take this with a grain of salt for now, but we still have quite some ways to go before 2021, so hopefully more details will surface between now and then.
