13 ways you can fix Google Play Store ‘Download Pending’ error

Whether you just got a brand new phone, or want to repurpose an older phone, you would think the process for downloading your apps is simple. However, from time-to-time, you may run into the dreaded spinning circle for your downloads. This “Download Pending” error has happened to everyone at some point in time, but here are some ways you can knock the webs out.

When software updates arrive, they can bring some great and wonderful new features along with keeping your phone’s security integrity in-tact. With the Play Store, there are some updates that arrive without any official notification as the app arrives over-the-air (OTA) and downloads/installs in the background. If you’ve noticed some other issues with the Play Store, try uninstalling those updates.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & Notifications.
  3. Select See all apps.
  4. Scroll down and select Google Play Store.
  5. Tap the three-dot overflow button in the top right-hand corner.
  6. Tap on Uninstall updates.

Once complete, you will want to re-open the Play Store from your phone. This will automatically install the latest version again on your phone, but should also allow you to download whatever app you are trying to.
