Audiobooks are a great way to pass the time when traveling or on your daily commute. Here are some of the best apps for iOS and Android to find and listen to audiobooks. Take a look at our list and let us know your favorite app in the comments.

Audible

Audible is Amazon’s audiobook application. Use Audible to listen to books on subjects ranging from kid’s stories to intense Thrillers. Use WhisperSync to switch across your devices and even pick up where you left off when reading on the Amazon Kindle app. Audible has a 30-day trial and after the trial period, you receive a monthly credit to use on your favorite title among other bonuses throughout the year.

Audiobooks.com

The Audiobooks.com app lets you browse over 700K podcasts and 150K audiobooks including 8000 free titles. Browse the catalog by category and download books to read offline. The free trial gives you a free premium book along with two books from the VIP collection. Once the trial period expires, continue to receive two books each month including one book from the VIP collection.

Libby, by OverDrive

Libby is a great way to read or listen to library books from your local library. Download books to read offline using the included reader or send them to the Amazon Kindle app to read. Audiobooks can be streamed via Android Auto for those times when you want to listen to a book while driving. Use the native audio player to adjust playback speed from .6 to 3.0x. Libby works over many devices and automatically syncs your reading position so you never look track of where you are in your book.

Free Audiobooks

The Free Audiobooks app lets you browse from thousands of titles including romance, mysteries, and timeless classics. Enjoy premium content from professional narrators. As with other audiobook apps, you can download content to your device to enjoy offline listening. Use the sleep timer to help you drift off to sleep while listening to a book.

The app includes 24000 titles including new content, out-of-print bestsellers, and classics. Browse the collection or simply pick or find your next title from the list of the most popular books. LibriVox audiobooks are free thanks to the many volunteers that record, edit, and distribute the books.
