Samsung files patent for SAMOLED, could make an appearance in the Galaxy S11

0

Over the years, Samsung has made OLED screens more popular amongst smartphones. They have not rested on their laurels as they have continuously made improvements to these displays, like with the Galaxy S10 where they introduced Dynamic AMOLED display technology to the phone.

Now it looks like Samsung could have another new display technology in the works that could potentially find its way into its 2020’s flagship smartphone. This is according to a report from LetsGoDigital who discovered that the company had filed for a patent for something called “SAMOLED”.

We should note that this should not be confused with Super AMOLED which is what Samsung used in the past, so for now it is unclear as to what the “S” in SAMOLED could stand for. That being said, we have heard rumors that Samsung could be working on putting the camera under the display of the Galaxy S11, so perhaps this patent could be somehow related to that.

In any case, only time will tell as to what SAMOLED stands for, so check back with us in the coming weeks and months for more details.
