Oct 18th, 2019

For a while now, since the start of the year, we have been hearing rumors that Motorola could be looking to launch their own foldable smartphone. We’re almost towards the end of the year but there is still no word yet on the device, although last we heard, it could potentially arrive by the end of 2019.

If you’re excited about the possibility of seeing another contender in the foldable phones space, you’ll be pleased to learn that the device could actually be announced next month. This is because of an invite and teaser that Motorola has been sending out, where the company has scheduled an event for the 13th of November.

Based on the invite, it shows a device that folds/unfolds, and according to Motorola, the company says, “You’re going to flip”. In case you’re hearing about this for the first time, the Motorola Razr foldable phone is a particularly interesting on. This is because according to the rumors, it will be based on the classic Razr design where it will be a clamshell device, but it will presumably sport a foldable display on the inside.

This is a very different approach compared to the likes of Samsung and Huawei, both of whom have opted for smartphone/tablet hybrids. In any case, hopefully we’ll have more details to share next month, so stay tuned for updates!
