For a while now, IMDb TV has offered a limited selection of free, ad-supported movies and shows on its website or through Fire TV devices with Amazon Prime subscriptions. Thanks to a new update of the IMDb app, that same movie and show catalog is now available on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. The selection isn’t anywhere near what Amazon, Netflix or Hulu has to offer, but I don’t think anyone is going to complain about having access to free media.
For the most part, the selection of movies and shows comes from Paramount and Lionsgate, including the Silver Linings Playbook, Age of Adaline, In the Heart of the Sea, Fringe and a whole lot more. More shows feature 2-3 45-second commercial breaks while a 2-hour movie typically comes with 5-6.
IMDb TV does change up its content lineup on a monthly basis. While this means there’s always something new in the rotation, the new content that comes in typically replaces what’s already there. That just means you’ll need to watch the movies and TV shows that catch your eye pretty quickly before they’re pulled and swapped out with something else.
