Android Q Beta 2 released for Pixel devices, still not ready for prime time

0

Google has released the second beta of Android Q to all Pixel devices and with it has fixed one of the biggest annoyances of the previous beta where screenshots would show rounded corners and the notch.

Andriod Q Beta 1 would take a literal screenshot and preserve the notch on the Pixel 3 and/or rounded corners on earlier Pixel devices. It was simply bad but the good news is Google has fixed this in Android Q Beta 2.

The latest build also brings a number of features, including the ability to changes the notification swipe direction, a new share menu, and even a new battery icon. The release notes also shows Google Play Services bumped to 16.0.88 and it also includes the April security patch.

While there are a number of new features and bug fixes in the second beta, it is still an early release so not recommended to run on a device if you need stability. If you are interested in testing out Andriod Q Beta 2 on your Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, or Pixel 3 XL, then head over to the Android Beta test site and sign up. Alternatively, you can manually flash the image files, which are found here.
