OTA Android 9.0 Pie update rolling out to ASUS ZenFone 5 owners

0

Android updates are tricky things since sometimes it’s hard to tell when a company plans on releasing it for their phones. There is also the question of whether or not your phone is eligible for it. However, there is some good news for those who are using the ASUS ZenFone 5 because it appears that the Android Pie update is now rolling out.

We should point out that prior to this, the update was previously made available as a manual download. For those who weren’t sure about how to do this or who weren’t aware, the OTA rollout means that you should soon start to receive the notification on your handset which will prompt you to download and install Android 9.0 on your phone. This update is being targeted at users with the model ZE620KL and will bump your device’s firmware up to 16.0610.1812.58. Not only will this update bring about the changes and improvements we’ve come to expect from Android 9.0 Pie, but it will also include a security patch. It’s unclear if the security patch if for January 2019, but hopefully, it will be the latest version.

If you don’t see the notification yet prompting you to download the update, don’t fret. Updates are pushed out in batches and stages, so it can take a few days (or sometimes even weeks) before the update is made available for all devices. Users who can’t wait can always try pinging the update server by going to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check Now.
