Yesterday, we learned about Xiaomi’s plans to finally enter the US market by the end of 2018 or early 2019. Today, we’re seeing a new image leaked supposedly showing off the company’s upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S.
The image leaked does not reveal too much, other than the vertically-oriented dual-camera setup, along with what looks to be a ceramic back. In the center of the device, there is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, which is leaving some to question the validity of this image.
The image shows the supposed Mi Mix 2S next to its predecessor, the Mi Mix 2. The similarities are apparent from the get-go, as both have the “Designed by Xiaomi” branding on the rear. The fingerprint scanner also seems to be in the same place, and both devices have the same shine, which would indicate a ceramic back.
However, there have been other rumors which claim that Xiaomi will be one of the next OEM’s to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. This would automatically discount this image as being a fake, thanks to the scanner that is placed on the rear of the device.
Then again, we could see different variants of the Mi Mix 2S, one of which would not have an embedded fingerprint scanner. Unfortunately, it’s just too early to tell whether this is a prototype or if it’s the real deal.
Let us know what you think about the image in the comments below and what you would like to see from Xiaomi’s upcoming device.
