The OnePlus 5/5T is a damn near perfect Android device, especially considering the value you get for $500. If there was one weak area of the phone, it would have to be the camera. It’s not a deal breaker by any means, but doesn’t really perform well against the Galaxies and Pixels of the world. There have been a few attempts made by the Android modding community to address this, whether porting over a modded Google Camera app with working HDR+. But in case you needed more options (the Google Camera mod can be a bit buggy), Android developers over at XDA are here to help.
OnePlus Camera M is a camera mod for the OnePlus 5/5T that significantly improves camera quality on the devices. It pretty much takes the stock OnePlus camera app and super charges it by increasing the JPG quality to 100. This produces drastically more detail in shots, and rivals the quality produced by the Google Camera mod. It only works via Magisk, so you’ll need to make sure you have that installed (root required) and then choose the OnePlus Camera M module zip file from the XDA thread.
The best part about OnePlus Camera M module? It works on any AOSP-based ROM, so other devices are also compatible if you’d like to give it a shot. For more, check out the thread linked below.
