Android Wear 2.8 is arriving on some devices with a new black theme

0

There isn’t a lot of positive news these days about Android Wear, but it looks like an update will be adding an often-requested feature. A few users over in the Android Wear subreddit have received an update to version 2.8. The most noticeable addition is a brand new black theme for the UI.

The familiar light gray UI has been replaced with a glorious pure black. This is present in the app drawer, quick settings, and other screens. Watches with AMOLED displays will benefit greatly from this. Pure black looks great on a device where you want the display to blend in with the body. Not to mention it could save a little battery with AMOLED displays.

We’re not exactly sure how widespread this update is right now. Some users reported that they received it after updating the Android Wear app. Others didn’t have the same luck. It’s worth a try if you’re interested.
