Samsung introduces special edition Galaxy Note 8 just for 2018 Winter Olympic competitors

2018 is already going to be an exciting year, however, this also marks the time for the Winter Olympics to take place. The Olympics take place in PyeongChang, South Korea, which just happens to be Samsung’s home country.

To celebrate the Winter Olympics, Samsung has introduced a special edition version of the Galaxy Note 8 which will be distributed to all of the Olympians, as well as various staff members. While the specs for this special edition Galaxy Note 8 are exactly the same as the one released late last year, the big difference comes regarding the overall design.

Exclusively for the Games, the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games Limited Edition will showcase a shiny white back glass to celebrate the winter theme, and gold Olympic rings – inspired by the Olympic Torch – an expression of the Olympic Movement with the union of five continents, and unity worldwide.

As you can see above, the PyeongChang Olympics are being celebrated with a white back plate and S Pen, which is intended to “celebrate the winter theme”. Closer to the bottom of the rear back panel, you can see the five gold Olympic rings, and there is a gold trim going around the edges of the Galaxy Note 8.

As has been the case with other Olympic-themed smartphones from Samsung, the company will not be making this available to the general public as of now. But in the meantime, you can still get a bit jealous since this is one of the most beautiful smartphones released to date.
