Earlier this year, Fossil announced its new lineup of Android Wear smartwatches with the Fossil Q Venture and the Q Explorist. These smartwatches were shown off at Baselworld 2017, and look to compete with the likes of the latest crop of Android Wear wearables to hit the market.
When Fossil announced these new options, the company claimed they would be launching in the Fall of 2017, and it seems that we’re nearing the launch. Starting today, you can head over to Fossil’s website and pre-order either option, and Fossil is maintaining that the smartwatches should be launching by this Fall. In fact, when placing a pre-order the listing shows a ship date of 9/24, meaning you only have a little over a month before these will be arriving.
Out of the box, these smartwatches will both be running Android Wear 2.0, so you won’t have to worry about updates being delayed, or being forced to update as soon as it arrives. This means that you’ll be able to download third-party apps and watchfaces from the Play Store, as well as have access to Google Assistant.
On the spec side of things, both options will offer the Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, along with 4GB of storage. While there’s no cellular connection included, you will have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options for these smartwatches.
As for pricing, Fossil has shared that the Q Venture will start at $255 and go all the way up to $275, while coming with a Sand Leather wristband, Stainless Steel wristband or a Rose Gold-Tone Stainless Steel wristband. The Q Explorist will be priced the same, with the basic leather wristband option starting at $255 and the Stainless Steel variants priced at $275.
