Last year when Motorola and Lenovo unveiled the Moto Z lineup, there was much speculation that the iconic Moto X moniker would be retired. There were no signs of a Moto X device in 2016, but it seems that may change in 2017.
We started seeing rumors and leaks regarding the Moto X 2017 around November, but we’re still wondering what’s going on. Earlier this week, a series of images were leaked showing off the supposed Moto X 2017, but you may be a bit disappointed.
It seems Motorola and Lenovo are opting to follow the design of the new Moto G5 lineup, with the curved back and edges. However, the problem that I see with these leaks is the inclusion of micro USB, versus USB Type-C which many devices are already coming with.
On the bright side, you can see that Motorola will be including the 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can breathe a sigh of relief. Other specs rumored for the device suggest that the Moto X won’t be flagship level any longer.
We’ve heard rumors of Motorola including the Snapdragon 625 processor, along with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. So armed with this information, we aren’t really sure where the Moto X 2017 will settle in Motorola’s smartphone lineup, as it seems to be extremely similar to the recently launched Moto G5 Plus.
Let us know what you think about this latest set of leaks and if you’d be interested in the Moto X even if it isn’t a flagship device.
