Samsung has been looking for more ways to expand its mobile payment services, and it seems the company has at least one idea on how to do so. According to an official from Samsung, the company will be pre-installing Samsung Pay on almost every single Samsung smartphone released in 2017.
“We have decided to pre-install Samsung Pay in Samsung Electronics’ smartphones to be released from next year.”
The last big move for Samsung Pay was made alongside the release of the Samsung Gear S3. The new smartwatch has the necessary MST technology built-in, and the Samsung Pay application was updated to include support for devices from OEMs other than Samsung.
According to Business Korea, Samsung is also looking to put Samsung Pay on devices from other OEMs. The company is reportedly looking to release “Samsung Pay Mini” which would be available for most other smartphones, as well as target online payments.
2017 is shaping up to be another busy year for Samsung, we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled to see how the company manages to rebound after a disappointing 2016. If Samsung Pay came to your smartphone, even in a limited capacity, would you decide to use that over whatever is currently available? Let us know in the comments below.
