Yesterday, we saw evidence that Starbucks would be teaming up with Niantic Labs to provide more PokéStops and Gyms for Pokémon GO but Sprint beat Starbucks to the punch. Niantic has pushed another update to the Pokémon GO application which will turn Sprint locations into the place to be for Pokémon GO players.
Sprint has announced the partnership with Niantic Labs and beginning on December 12th, Pokémon GO players will be able to experience the following:
- Sprint, Boost Mobile and Sprint at RadioShack stores become a destination to collect in-game items, including Poké Balls and Eggs, to help them advance in the game.
- Players will have a go-to location where they can take Pokémon into battle against other Pokémon at Sprint-sponsored Gyms.
- Players can go to Sprint, Boost and Sprint at RadioShack locations to recharge their phones.
Earlier rumors suggested that the Starbucks partnership would be announced as early as tomorrow, so we’ll have to wait and see what’s in the works. Unfortunately, the update today does not include the 100 new Pokémon that have been rumored to be added to the game in the near future.
