A couple of weeks ago, we saw a new listing crop up for the BlackBerry DTEK60 through B&H Photo. However, there was no official announcement regarding the device, leaving us to wonder when BlackBerry was going to make the DTEK60 official.

Today is that day, as BlackBerry has made the DTEK60 official. The company released a blog post which describes all the new features that are included along with the latest device.

BlackBerry DTEK60 Specs:

  • 5.5-inch (2560×1440) AMOLED Display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 32GB Storage expandable via MicroSD
  • 8MP front camera
  • 21MP rear camera
  • 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow

The name of the game for BlackBerry has always been security, and according to the company, the DTEK50 is the “world’s most secure smartphone.” BlackBerry has included a new application, DTEK, that is the derivation of the devices name. The DTEK app continuously and automatically “monitors your OS and apps and lets you know when your privacy could be at risk.”

After what was seemingly a flop with the DTEK50, the DTEK60 seems to be a solid device for those wanting to stick with BlackBerry. As for pricing, the DTEK60 is priced at $499 and is available for purchase starting today. Additionally, BlackBerry is giving away a Soft Shell case and a Rapid Charger for those who purchase the DTEK60 between today and November 8th.
