There are many advantages to rooting your Android device, but there are also a few disadvantages. One of the biggest drawbacks is apps that don’t work on rooted devices. The most popular examples are Android Pay and Pokemon GO. These apps can detect if your phone is rooted and refuse to run. An awesome Android developer has created an app that allows those apps to run on rooted devices.

Magisk is the name of a mod that essentially allows you to toggle off root access when you want to use apps like Android Pay or Pokemon GO. It’s a great tool, but you have manually flip the toggle every time. AutoMagisk is an app that does the work for you. It automatically flips the toggle off when you open certain apps and flips it back on when you’re done. You don’t have to do anything.

To use AutoMagisk you will obviously need root access. You’ll also need the original Magisk mod, which can be found here with installation instructions. After you have that you can download and install AutoMagisk. The app allows you to choose which apps you want to run with root disabled. Every time one of those apps is launched you will see a notification informing you that root has been disabled. Now go forth and pay and play!
