Last week, Sony took to the stage at IFA 2016 to announce two new devices: the Sony Xperia XZ and the Sony Xperia X Compact. At the event, we were informed that Sony would be selling the Xperia XZ later this year and the X Compact sometime in September. It seems that “sometime in September” has turned into today, because the device is now available for purchase from carriers and retailers including Carphone Warehouse, O2, EE, and more.
The Compact lineup for Sony has always been a fan favorite for those who don’t want an overly large device and don’t need the extra performance to boot. It’s been over a year since Sony launched its last “Compact” smartphone, so now’s the perfect time to jump on board if you’ve been waiting.
Sony Xperia X Compact Specs:
- 4.6-inch 720p display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor
- 3GB RAM
- 32GB of storage expandable up to 256GB via MicroSD
- 23MP rear-facing camera
- 5MP front-facing camera
- 2,700mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0
- USB Type-C charging port
The Xperia X Compact starts at £359.99 SIM unlocked, or for £28.00 per month if purchased through a leasing program. As of right now, the device hasn’t made its way to this side of the pond, nor is it available for purchase from Amazon UK, but that may change in the coming days and weeks.
