The much-leaked Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is finally here. As per tradition, we like to compare new devices to their competition. For the Galaxy Note 7 we have chosen a couple of the best phablets on the market: the Nexus 6P and iPhone 6s Plus. How does Samsung’s latest Note stack up with the competition? Let’s find out!
Design
The most polarizing thing about the Note 7 might be the Edge screen. Some people love the curved Edge screen, but a lot of people find it useless and hard to hold. In terms of design, the Note 7 is just an enlarged Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. And there’s nothing wrong with that. The glass and metal design is very attractive. Only the iPhone 6s Plus can rival the design.
Display
Obviously, a big part of a big phone is the display. All three of these devices rock displays that near the 6-inch mark. The Note 7 and Nexus 6P have the biggest displays and highest resolution. Huawei and Samsung have opted for AMOLED, while Apple uses LCD. This means the Note and Nexus will have more vibrant colors and darker blacks. Not everyone likes that look, but we do prefer it over LCD.
Camera
It’s hard to compare cameras based purely on megapixel numbers. All of these devices are on the same playing field, but Samsung and Apple are clearly in the lead. The Nexus 6P is no slouch, but Samsung and Apple really excel in camera quality. The Galaxy S7 was better than the iPhone, and we assume the Note 7 will be just as good.
Price
Perhaps the biggest difference between these three devices is price. The Nexus 6P is by far the cheapest. It’s still a great deal when you compare the specs. You miss out on little things like wireless charging, but you still get top of the line features like a fingerprint scanner, fast charging, Type-C port, and a big battery. We don’t know exact pricing for the Note 7, but we assume it will be in line with previous Note devices.
Who wins?
Every time we do these charts it seems like the competition is closer and closer. Phones these days are all basically good. Even camera performance, which traditionally was not a strong point of Android phones, has been much improved. The Note 7 looks to be Samsung’s best Note in years, but you can’t go wrong with either of the other phablets. Which phone do you think is the best?
