HP prepares for the arrival of the Play Store with its latest Chromebook

In preparation of the Play Store’s impending release on Chromebooks, HP has introduced its first 11-inch touchscreen Chromebook. The HP Chromebook 11-inch G5 features a touchscreen which will allow users to easily interact with their favorite Android apps once the Play Store makes its way to Chromebooks later this year.

  • 11.6-inch HD IPS 1366 x 768 display or 11.6-inch HD Anti-glare 1366 x 768 display
  • Intel Celeron N3060 Processor
  • 2GB/4GB RAM
  • 16GB/32GB Storage
  • (2) USB 3.1 ports
  • Up to 12 hours of battery life

We’ve already gotten a glimpse at how Android apps will work on Chromebooks with the developer release coming to the Chromebook Flip. However, HP has confirmed that this latest Chromebook will also be compatible with the Play Store when released later this year.

Pricing has yet to be announced for the HP Chromebook 11-inch G5 yet, but it will be available starting in July and will come to retailers such as Best Buy in October. Is this the type of Chromebook that you would be interested in when the Play Store is officially rolled out?
