Last month, Xiaomi unveiled its latest smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi Max, but at the event it was expected for the company to unveil its new Mi Band. Unfortunately, a few days before the event, CEO Lei Jun stated that the wearable device would be delayed a month due to production issues. But now, it seems that all things are a-go and we will see the Mi Band 2 on June 7th.
The report from MyDrivers gives no mention of pricing or US availability, but expect Xiaomi to make the announcement between June 1st and 3rd, with the actual release being on June 7th. The launch would kick-off online sales through Xiaomi’s website on the same day.
Due to the new upgrades that the Mi Band 2 is expected to bring, mainly the LED display, the fitness tracking device probably won’t be as cheap as the original Mi Band at $15. In addition to the LED display, the Mi Band 2 should be including a heart rate sensor, step counter, and more.
We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled as to when this is actually released, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to pick one up on launch day. Let us know what your favorite fitness trackers are and whether the Mi Band 2 is something you would consider.
