NextVR has already been responsible for a lot of “firsts” in the world of Virtual Reality. With the ability to watch NBA games in VR, as well as NASCAR races, NextVR turns its sights to concerts thanks to a partnership with Live Nation.
Say you want to go to Drake’s Summer Sixteen tour, but find out he’s not going to be coming to an arena near you. NextVR and Live Nation will be making it possible to “see” the concert live. NextVR is aiming to make this a reality this summer by the use of your Virtual Reality headset.
The concerts will be first available to those who own the Samsung Gear VR through NextVR’s own app, but the company is currently developing ways to make it possible for users across different platforms to experience how awesome this will be. In order to get the full experience of the concert without actually being there in person, NextVR is also working on “optimized 3D audio” to make sure the bass is pumping while watching your favorite band do its thing on stage.
The full schedule of supported concerts has yet to be announced, but with events like Drake’s Summer Sixteen tour and Beyonce’s The Formation World Tour, this summer seems to be the perfect time for NextVR and Live Nation to get everyone in on the VR movement.
Virtual Reality really seems to be picking up a lot of steam recently. With the Gear VR taking Samsung users by storm, and the higher-end VR headsets like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift becoming available, VR is ready to take the mantle as the next big thing in tech.
