Verizon’s LG G3 seems to be getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Well, color us surprised and slap us silly: Verizon’s actually moved fast on a major update for one of their phones, and it isn’t even the newest device in their roster. The company is starting to push Android 6.0 Marshmallow to their variant of the LG G3.

Users on Reddit and XDA have reported receiving the upgrade, which comes in at about 788MB large, and the major notable differences (aside from the large collection of Lollipop-specific changes) are a refined Material Design user interface throughout the system, a tweaked notification bar, and overall performance improvements.

Unfortunately the OTA seems to be rolling out in stages, with many people reporting that their phone is still showing that it’s on the latest version. Verizon hasn’t even publicly confirmed the rollout yet so we imagine it’s still quite too early to expect everyone to be able to get it. You can try your luck anyway if you want, though, by heading to the Settings > System Update menu on your phone.
