Instagram has slowly allowed more and more ads to appear in user streams. They started as simple photos, but soon evolved to videos, too. Advertisers were allowed to create ads the same was users could create Instagram posts: photos of 15-second videos. However, now advertisers are getting special treatment.

On their official blog, Instagram has announced that advertisers will now be able to post up to 30-second videos, double what users can post. They’ll also be able to post landscape videos. The good news is you can still easily scroll past ads in the stream, and they still won’t autoplay with sound. It’s unfortunate that Instagram is giving special treatment to advertisers. A 15-second video should be more than enough time to show off your product on a platform like Instagram.
