Let’s forget about the iPhone vs Android battle for now. If you combine users on both platforms, what are the 15 most popular apps used on smartphones? ComScore published a list showing exactly that and the results might surprise you. Some brief highlights:

  • Facebook owns the #1, #2, and #9 most popular app in the world
  • Google has 5 apps in the Top 15
  • Pandora is surprisingly high at #7
  • Twitter is surprisingly low at #13
  • Who are all the people using Yahoo Stocks?!?!

Here is the ordered list with links to download from the Play Store:

  1. Facebook
  2. Facebook Messenger
  3. YouTube
  4. Google Search
  5. Google Play
  6. Google Maps
  7. Pandora Radio
  8. Gmail
  9. Instagram
  10. Yahoo Stocks
  11. Apple Maps
  12. Amazon Mobile
  13. Twitter
  14. Apple Music
  15. Snapchat

The list is skewed in some regards since many of these apps come preloaded on devices, but in most cases, that’s because people would end up downloading the apps anyways (if NOTHING was pre-installed on your phone, what 15 apps would you download first?).

How many of these 15 apps do you have installed on your device(s)?
