Although tailored to kid-friendly apps and games in the Play Store, Google Play Family’s free-app-of-week will sometimes yield titles that are fun for older folks as well. Normally priced at $5, Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake by Cartoon Network is the latest title joining Google Play’s free app of the week and it’s actually quite good.

Players take control of Niko, a young boy who sets out on an adventure across Gogapoe Island to recover — you guessed it — his stolen birthday cake. On the way, you’ll join up with friendly monsters who’s abilities will be required to overcome environmental obstacles and destroy the opposition. There’s some light RPG and puzzle elements too, so be sure to check it out.

MAMBC will be free through July 16th, so you have plenty of time to clear out some space if you’re running low. Keep in mind that searching for the title on the Google Play Store wont show the promo pricing, so you’ll need to follow this link here to get it for free. If that doesn’t work, just open the Play Store app and select > Games > Family > Free App of the Week (banner). Cheers.
