Samsung leaked the details on their site and AT&T even teased the phone on Twitter, but now it’s 100% official: this is the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, and it’s headed to store shelves in time for summer fun.

So what are we getting? Basically everything we’ve already heard about. The specs list should be the same as the one Samsung had on their website, but AT&T’s promo page has an updated listing for battery: it’s 3,500mAh instead of the 2,550mAh Samsung accidentally listed. This should assuage fears by many that the Galaxy S6 Active won’t have enough juice to truly last you an entire day (and then some).

Everything else is still accurate:

  • 5.1-inch 2560 x 1440 Super AMOLED display
  • Octa-Core Exynos 7420 chipset (2.1GHz and 1.5GHz cores)
  • 32GB of UFS 2.0 storage
  • 16MP rear camera with 4K video recording, 5MP front camera
  • Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi ac Dual-Band MIMO, GPS, NFC, Heart Rate Sensor, Infrared Blaster
  • 5.65 x 2.78 x 0.27 inches , 138g
  • 3,500mAh battery
  • Android 5.0.2 Lollipop
  • Activity Zone app that brings together Weather, Barometer, S Health and more

We also now know that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active has been rated MIL-STD-810G, which is military-grade protection from drops, resistance to water and dustproof (all of which combine for a top-tier IP68 certification).

So, you’ll be able to grab one for $0 down on AT&T Next for $23.17 with 30 device payments on Next 24, $28.96 per month at 24 payments on Next 18, or $34.75 per month at 20 payments on Next 12.

Unfortunately AT&T still didn’t have anything to share in regards to availability, but with the phone officially out for the world to see we reckon it won’t take long to get those details. In the meantime let us know if the improved battery has restored your interest in grabbing one of these.

[Update]: AT&T has reached out to confirm that the device will be available starting June 12th.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Not too bad. It simply looks like a Galaxy 6 with a cell phone case on it. I like it, minus the hardware keys. But still good looking none the less

  2. Exclusives are dumb.

    1. These days exclusive deals for important devices like this one feels almost cruel.

  3. Why didn’t they put this battery in the S6?

    1. Because just like apple, Samsung is king of raping its customers

  4. No Veizon and no SD card. Fail. I have actually been happy with s6 i picked up on big red, battery life is better than people made it out to be and quick charge is just awesome.

  5. Nice: 3,500mAh battery and Wireless Charging.
Not So nice: No SD Slot or news on Glove mode?

  6. So there’s no excuse that the s7 can’t have a 3500mAh battery…

    1. This brings up something quite alarming. Why can’t phones come with batteries this size? I mean, everyone’s main concern seems to be screen size and not phone thickness. So why does it matter how thick the phone is? Ugh!! I’d kill for a battery like this. LoL!!

  7. Meh. I’ll just wait to see if Samsung can improve the Galaxy S7 to be as good as the Galaxy S5 was, plus whatever additional features it might offer.

    Making the S6:
    * not have removable back
    * not have replaceable battery
    * not having SD card slot
    * not having the water resistance of the S5
    is a deal killer.

Plus, making the S6 look like an iPhone is just plain insulting. If I was stupid enough to buy an iPhone, then I would already have an iPhone.

    1. Most would agree iphone 6 build and looks is amazing. Feels better in hand than any android ever has. I personally was pleased that it was a copy of iphone 6 build because ever since iphone 6 all ive wanted was a flagship android with iphone 6 build quality/ premium feel.

      1. Don’t dignify blind allegiance

      2. Build Quality is not the same thing as Fashion. They are different things.
Being able to take a Galaxy S5 in the pool, or run it through the washing machine is build quality. (Search YouTube for numerous videos of people doing this with the S5.)

I don’t know how a fashionable iPhone (or Galaxy S6) would fare in the pool or washing machine.

    2. I was hoping the S6 Active might get the replaceable battery and micro-SD card, but they’re staying with the “beautiful and functional for a few year” model. In three years, these sealed phones will be trash.

Meanwhile my old Galaxy Note 1 and Casio G’zOne work well as GPS tracers, bluetooth music players, and stand-by cameras (I keep the Note in airplane mode so any photos I take with it don’t escape to the cloud).

  8. Does it have band 12?

  9. Where all those people that were saying they weren’t going to get the phone because of a rumor of a smaller battery? =.P
