It’s been a long time coming, Nexus 9 owners. Starting today, you should be seeing an update to Android 5.1.1 hitting your tablets. Because you may not feel like waiting around for the update to roll out in stages — and quite frankly, it’s been long enough — you have a few other options at your disposal.
Those looking to do things the manual way, the official factory images (build LMY47X) have been posted on Google’s developer page where they’re available for the flashing. What’s more is someone was even able to capture the OTA link directly from Google’s servers if you’re proficient in ADB. Just make sure you’re coming from LRX22L before you update. Cheers!

Lolipop 5.1.1 butter smooth on my nexus 10
Seems to have greatly improved my Nexus 9, and I didnt even do a factory reset or wipe any caches (which I would often do with an update that big).
Google smartphones are almost always top of the line devices, however there have only been a few other devices with as much hype and anticipation as the Nexus 9. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crittermap.watchface.moonface
Some love for the Nexus 6 maybe…?
It should be noted that while the article itself doesn’t mention it, the title does. It’s still a long time coming for Nexus 9 LTE – stuck at 5.0.2 – which, thankfully, I didn’t get. This purchase was one of my worst decisions in a long time. I wish I could get my money back, lol because I know you can’t sell one.
