Samsung shows us how the beautiful Galaxy S6 Edge is made [VIDEO]

Samsung Galaxy S6 design story

Although we haven’t been the biggest Samsung supporters in years past, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge officially won us over. We talked about the new design in length in both our initial Galaxy S6 review and followup S6 Edge review. Long story short, the phones look and feel great (although the Edge can be a bit awkward to hold).

Today, Samsung is showing us all the care that went into designing the Galaxy S6 Edge and how they “mastered impossible materials” to make the gorgeous device you see before you. It’s an ad, make no mistake. The video doesn’t really take us behind the scenes, or show the people who help build their curvy new smartphone. Instead, we see Samsung heating up and bending the Gorilla Glass 4 that goes onto units, forging its metal frame in the fiery furnaces of Mordor Foxconn, and cutting chamfered edges with diamonds.

It’s sad that its more practical and lower priced sibling — the regular Galaxy S6 — doesn’t get the same video treatment. Guess that one is a little more boring. In any case, you can check out Samsung’s latest Galaxy S6 Edge video down below.

  1. What good is a beautiful phone with crappy battery , Samsung fail ed

    1. I’m consistently getting 5-6 hrs screen on, with 12-13 hr days before charging. That doesn’t seem crappy to me.

      1. 5-6 hours screen ON thats impressive! so it should be the best smartphone battery and all reviews around online in every site are wrong state it that the new samsung battery is POOR, read the following 20 reviews here http://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-s6/#reviews
so you can Google it as well as Samsung G s6 bad (crappy) battery

        1. There are known bugs in certain features causing battery drains of the “cell standby” variety as well as some (keyword being some) users being hit with a google services drain that these reviews are failing to mention. The specific model I have, T-Mobile, has a bug with WiFi/wifi calling causing a horrible battery drain, so I leave those turned off. You don’t have to believe me, I really couldn’t care less, I’ll go on enjoying my battery life.

          1. nvm

  2. *watches video*…Jony Ive, is that you?

  3. Samsung’s Ctrl C + Ctrl V is in overdrive right now.

So they pretty much copy the iPhone and now they’re copying the ads too? Didn’t know Jony Ive worked for both Apple and Samsung. He’s designing the products for both companies, and now the poor guy voices over the commercials?

Would be nice for Samsung to come up with something original for once.

    1. I really hope your trolling cause last I checked. Samsung is the only one with the dual curve display in the market right now. Also this ad is nothing like an apple ad. If anything they are copying jewelry ads. Also this isn’t the first time Samsung used this man’s voice. They have ads for their TV with the same guy from 09

    2. Samsung recently lost their ad chief. Looks like the replacement is all about ditto Apple. Let’s just hope they don’t try to sell mid-range hardware with crappier software for exorbitant prices like Apple.

  4. Did that ad really say, “Jewel case”? Uhg.

  5. Copying the iPhone wasn’t enough; now they have to copy the ads? This is pretty blatant

    1. Omg! How dare they! No one is allowed to make a macro video of a manufacturing process of a unique product that happens to be made by machines used industry wide by all OEMs, except apple of course..

      1. Its a copy…but its Samsung so its expected.

I wont even bother listing all the copying Samsung has done of Apple in the last 7 years because the list really is too long now but here are but a few teasers:

        Samsung Galaxy (Iphone)
        Samsung Galaxy Player (iPod)
        TouchWiz (iOS)
        Chomebox -2012 (Mac Mini)
        Earbuds – 2015 (Apple earbuds)
        SPay (Apple Pay)
        Touch button (Touch ID)
        SVoice (Siri)
        etc, etc, etc

But Apple are not the only company Samsung copies. Samsung has copied Dyson and Oculous Rift as recent bearing examples but that list is long too.

        Its Samsung…they copy others….its expected….move on.

        1. I could tear your argument apart, but I’m not going to waste my time.

And I’m not going to say I’m not going to do something, then proceed to waste my own and others time by doing it anyway, so don’t expect any more from this comment.

  6. apple is an ok phone but they are always years behind android phones. They release a new phone with a few upgrades at a time. But it’s always stuff that has been out for years on Android phones.
