Google Now airbnb card

When it works, it feels a little bit like magic and starting today, Android developers can now officially take display their own card inside Google Now, making it your one-stop shop for staying current with all the going-ons in your life. Well, some of them anyway.

Kicking off this new development is a full list of 40 supported applications ranging from Lyft, eBay, Waze, and more. We assume some kind of API will be released at a later time for everyone else, but get ready to start seeing a lot more cards in Google Now from this point forward. Check down below for the full list of currently supported apps (that we conveniently alphabetized for you), or Google’s newly updated Google Now page here.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. seeing progress, like it

  2. a move in the right direction to make me go to the google now portion of my Nexus more often….however, after looking at all of the apps; I realized, I use none of them. at all. I will keep my fingers crossed for more apps in the near future????? =)

    1. Right? I saw one I use.

      1. why not some YouTube or Flipboard support? or I use Any.Do, lets add that to the list! love the username BTW!

        1. I would love a YouTube card for when new videos were uploaded! I hope Phandroid and other tech apps are working theirs as well. And thanks!

    2. a couple weeks ago, i was getting dressed to go to work, i casually flipped to the Google Now portion of the homescreen, and it said there was a major traffic delay on the route i normally drive to work…. I took an alternate way to work…. Google now tells you what it thinks you want to know, without even asking… if you put an appointment in your calendar, it’ll tell you when to leave by in order to get there on time. ETC… i cant list all the things on this msg…. if you have an airline boarding pass in your email, Google Now will tell you if the flights delayed, or might even load up a scannable boarding pass barcode for you. etc . etc. etc.

      1. I love google now and look at it A LOT of the time. I just am crossing my fingers for some…youtube, flipboard, better sports scores/info etc. And thats funny because last week, I left my house and it had an accident on there so i headed another route haha. I do wish they would make a sound notification. I get cards all of the time but no notifications on my nexus 6. wonder why that is?

    3. Seriously. I use two on that list. But, on reflection, I am going to assume that Google has better information about which apps deserve the love first rather than my research group of one.

      1. yeah for real….thats why i’m crossing my fingers and not really bitching. i know there are a lot of people that use those apps or they would not have been implemented.

  3. How long before we start seeing cards that are nothing but ads? Or maybe that’s already happening… I don’t really use the feature.

    1. You can disable individual cards, so… probably never?

  4. So do these integrations by default send to Android Wear watches as well?

  5. That’s all great, but can we at least all get upgraded to Lollipop before loading more boring apps? (HTC M8)

    1. If your primary interest is being on the latest operating system, then consider getting a Nexus.

      1. I wonder how that’s working out for Nexus 7 cellular owners?

          1. Almost 3 months later…

        1. Android 5.0.2 is hitting the Nexus7 Cellular owners now…. http://www.droid-life.com/2015/01/19/download-android-5-0-2-ota-updates-for-nexus-devices/ Even before the Nexus6 ! so i’m not sure what you’re talking about.

    2. Yeah, you’re gonna have to talk to your provider. Google just ships the goodies, it’s your provider that lets you have them.

  6. If the user can’t turn the apps off, I feel for anyone that uses a significant amount of those apps.

    1. turn them off? so why would you want to download them in the first place?
If you insist on downloading them and turning them off, just go to the app-info screen of each of them, and choose “force-stop”.
also, if you just don’t want to show their cards, you can disable them via the settings of the cards

      1. You “think ” in your original post lol. That is my point. The cards must be able to be disabled so you don’t super clutter your Google Now and still get to use your apps.

        1. Yes, after I’ve searched of how it works, I’ve changed it. I personally don’t use this app, so at first I wasn’t sure.

  7. But, yet, they still haven’t bothered to make Google Now… useful instead of a glorified data grab/privacy invasion?

  8. I was excited, but then I only use 1-2 of these, and I don’t see a real use to having a Now card. Maybe in the future it’ll matter.

And we better be able to disable or I’m about to delete a few apps.

  9. Do I use any of these? No. : ( But I’m looking forward to Now supporting more 3rd party apps : ) Something I’ve been waiting for a loooong time….

  10. I’ve been wondering when they would open this up to third parties. Google Now is going to be a lot more useful very soon :)
