After becoming officially available for purchase only 2 days ago, it seems Sony has finally gotten their house in order and are ready to give ship dates for the unlocked Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. According to the Sony Store, if you pre-order the unlocked Z3 Compact today — which supports both AT&T and T-Mobile networks (no band 12 LTE, however) — you can expect the phone to arrive on your doorstep as early as November 3rd.
The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is retailing for $530 direct from Sony and offers the highest-end hardware specs you can find on a sub-5-inch smartphone. Sony also offers 2 years of accidental damage protection for an additional $80 in the event the phone is ever dropped and damaged ($0 deductible).
Don’t forget, student and faculty also get a bonus 10% (about $53) off the price of a new Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (or any Sony device for that matter) just by signing up at Sony’s Student Store here. Not a student or faculty? You can still sign up and nab the discount if you’re “buying for a student,” so there’s always that route as well.
P.S. Yes, I just purchased one for myself in black. Can’t wait to finally get my hands on a full capable Android device I don’t have to use with 2 hands.
Hope they offer the Z3v on their website. If not, maybe even the regular Z3. I’d jump ship to Cricket to use it.
If it wasn’t for T-Mobile’s unlimited data, I’d strongly consider making the trek on over to the now AT&T-owned Cricket. Opens up a world of great phones.
I’m assuming this model doesn’t have Tmobiles WiFi calling built in?
If it gets android L….I don’t think it will matter….
10GB of data at $55/mo is a killer deal. I’m guessing you’re using your phone(s) as a permanent hotspot if you need unlimited? Plus, in my very recent experience, T-Mo coverage and service completely stinks everywhere I travel.
I use almost 10GB / month in streaming on my commute. (Play Music, high quality) Add to that some Netflix while on the treadmill… Unlimited is nice.
But now At&t reduces your speed if you exceed over 6GB or 8GB of data until next billing cycle. All my HQ videos on youtube started buffering in last 2 weeks before next billing cycle so i called At&t and they said that if I exceed over 6GB or 8 GB data (cant remember) At&t will reduce the speed. So unlimited is nothing special anymore. Its better to get their mobile share value plans for 10GB or 30GB data.
That’s sad. Come join me on T-Mobile where that isn’t a problem. (Or Sprint, whichever has better coverage for you.)
Why does this article sound like an ad? Its okay if it is but you should have a tag that says advertisement or something.
It’s not an ad.
Just Chris showing off his new love, that’s all ;)
Sorry, did I let my enthusiasm for the best 4.6-inch smartphone show?
A little. Everyone knows its a great phone but unless they get it on US carriers it won’t get the recognition it needs.
Phones get Chris quite excited sometimes. You’ll get used to it.

+!

I ordered the Z3 from t-mobile, if it’s too big, I’m going to return it and buy the compact.
Good for you – go to the kitchen and bake a nice big cookie for “uncle mason” and celebrate that over a glass of milk!
Thanks, Chris. Any word on whether there will be a Compact Contract? Please keep us posted if there’s news about T-Mobile or anyone else offering the Compact in a plan.
Wall Street Journal gushed about the features in this phone, then said that it’s probably doomed because Sony has problems with “distribution”–i.e., they rarely offer their phones on contract plans. Wonder what is wrong with the guys at Sony.
