HTC has announced another new smartphone in their Desire lineup. The HTC Desire 510 won’t blow the pants off you if you were looking for something that could match the big boys, but an attractive price point for beginner smartphone users should explain following internals:

  • 4.7-inch FWVGA display
  • Quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor
  • 8GB of internal storage (microSD up to 128GB)
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 5 megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera
  • Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi N, GPS w/ GLONASS
  • 2,100mAh battery
  • 4G LTE
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • 139.9 x 69.8 x 9.99mm, 158g

The software experience brings a dash of Sense with BlinkFeed and HTC’s usual visual flair, but don’t expect the full pot of goods as seen on devices like the HTC One M8. all this is meant to be is a very affordable 4G LTE smartphone. The Desire 510 is made from HTC’s favorite material — polycarbonate — and will be available in Terra White and Meridian Grey. Expect it to reach Europe, Asia and “select” carriers in the United States at some point this fall.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. crap display, old cpu, low ram, junk cam, no flash, and very small battery.

The only positive about this phone is that it has LTE.

i cant see this thing costing more than $79 on any carrier. any more than that, then its overpriced.

    1. You mean $79 without contract lol

      1. that is correct and i could see how my comment would seem like it would say $79 on contract, but i did mean $79 outright.

does anyone still offer a 2 year contract? i’ve been contract free for like 4 years, so i dont keep up with those plans.

    2. You have embarrassed yourself with your ignorance.

Old CPU? How old is the CPU? How long have manufacturers been using it? This brand new CPU, Qualcomm’s first 64-bit processor used in an Android phone, is how old?

      1. the cpu was announced late last year. and its not brand new, its still a 400 series cpu. this phone just happens to be the first one to try and get it to market. certainly nothing to “brag” about. and just because its 64bit doesnt exactly mean squat right now anyhow since android is 32bit now does it. sure, 64bit android is right around the corner, but the much faster other 64bit processors will line their release up with the launch of 64bit android after it gets released to the nexus lineup firsts. do you really think this phone, being a seriously budget phone, will see 64bit android anytime soon as an update? and by the time it does, there will be a far better market of budget phones with same/similar/better specs for about the same price.

this phone is dead in the water unless its extremely cheap as i mentioned before.

so yea, so i guess i am ignorant huh?

  2. The spec is like 2009, except the processor lol ….. it better be like sub $200 without contract lol

    1. Which of those specs were common in 2009?

  3. Pretty heavy for such a “small” phone

  4. They really need to double the ROM on these phones…. Since JB, I always run out of app space b/c many apps have data (FB, Email, whapsapp, etc.) and can’t be moved to external SD card.

  5. The first ever 64-bit Android smartphone!
